9 best organizational Tidies tips

In today's post, I'm sharing 9 simple tips on how you can simplify your home and help you simplify your life!

For most of us, life is already pretty busy and full. Between work, school, extracurricular activities, social activities, important pressing things that need to be arranged, general maintenance, and running a household, life can be busy. And at times, overwhelming!

While some things you can't change or simplify, others you certainly can. And one big thing you can simplify is your home.

Arranging your home can be very overwhelming. Not all of us have the time, patience or skill. However, it doesn't have to be this way. Here are a few of my tips that can kick-start organization in your home.

1.Mark it

Labels and space marking have miraculous power. Those who have tried it will surely agree with me. Not only do you know what to find where, but you also know where to return the item, to store it. That's how you keep order in the long run. It's just a habit to always put everything back in its place. Never quit organizing without labels. It doesn't matter what labels you use, but use them. Pasta, tools, baking, everything must have a home. Everything in its place, a place for everything.

2.Utility drawer in the kitchen

Everybody has that drawer in the kitchen where they put different things. Scissors, lighter, bills, duct tape, small coins, chargers, and sometimes there's a crunchie in there. Things are thrown in there indiscriminately, it has no structure, it's cluttered, and it's all in there until it fills up and suddenly it's a junk drawer. However, if you take the time to organise it with a few small bins or organisers, it will be much clearer and the tidiness will be sustainable.

3.Invest in the right aids

If you've decided to organise your household, it's a good idea to plan everything in advance. What food you want to keep in boxes, what you want to store in boxes and how many rotating organisers are optimal. Don't buy gadgets without good planning, it has to make sense and everything has to fit into your space. Invest in quality products designed for professional organizing, it will add value to your life in the long run.

4.Functional before nice

If you spend hours, days or weeks making your home look nice, but then can't find anything, there's no point. If you have beautiful spice racks that turn to dust over time, it's just more junk in the house. Not to mention it cost money and now you're not using it. Always aim for a practical and functional system when organising your home so that it fits in with your needs and lifestyle. The important thing is that your home is uncluttered and easy to maintain, and then it will be beautiful too.

5.Give it potential

There are probably a lot of unused spaces in your home that need to be given potential. Make use of the space on the door by using the Elfa door system to get extra storage space, in the pantry, in the bathroom, anywhere. Corners of shelves are sometimes lost, but if you use a rotating organizer otherwise unused corners start to make sense.

Every bit of space can be used, you just have to be a little creative.

6.Create zones

Designate a zone for storing shopping bags and shoes, and one zone for any household cleaners or tools you need to keep on hand. For example, you can start with the hallway. Hats, gloves, scarves and all the things you need to store somewhere when you get home so they don't end up on the kitchen table need to have a place too.

7.Important things together

Important items such as keys, bills, receipts and other notices should always be easily accessible to everyone. Choose a place to keep all your important items. When you need a birth certificate or spare car keys, you'll save a lot of time searching for them. It's important to always put everything back in its place after use.

8.Make your wardrobe accessible

If you don't see it, you probably won't wear it. Taking the time to organise your wardrobe will save you time and money. Keep the things that you like and fit your style. Think through a system that suits your space so that it's clear and easy to maintain. Give it structure. If you almost always wear pants and a sweater during the week, put those items in an accessible place.

9.Cords & Cables

Exposed electrical cords, cords and extension cords tangled and full of dust because it's so hard to maintain are a bitch to look at. Use cord hooks and boxes designed for this purpose can help you hide the mess, and if possible, use splitters with a switch for added safety.

When life at home seems more manageable and less stressful, your home can become a safe place where you can retreat, unwind, relax and recharge.

If you're not ready to go all out and don't know where to start, ask a professional organizer for help. He or she will help you make your home more organized and, most importantly, more functional.
