An organized kitchen has several advantages, and it's the path to success. Not only is it practical, uncluttered and functional. It's easier to keep tidy, which leads to cleanliness, and cleanliness leads to healthier cooking. Not to mention how much easier an organized kitchen makes cooking and food preparation. Deciding to take this step is a good start. Whether you decide to venture out on your own or enlist the services and help of professionals. Either way is the way to go.

Going the professional route has multiple benefits, we actually do it all for you which saves a lot of time, energy and we know what is right for your space, needs and lifestyle. We will consult everything with you to make sure it's exactly tailored to you.

Well, if you've decided to go it alone, here are some tips on how to get started and what to look out for:

  • Before you decide to organize the food in your kitchen, it's important to go through your space. Often times, without a good system and temporary solutions that fail anyway, that space gets a little crowded. Take a look and consider what food you need to store and work from there. There are many ways to organize food in the kitchen. You need to choose the right one for you and your space.

  • Choosing the right organisers and food containers is key. I definitely recommend investing in quality products that are both functional and will last. So you say to yourself I'm going to go ahead and open up a website, an e-shop, where you can buy all these cool things that will finally keep your kitchen tidy already. And now the question comes, which jars are suitable for my space, how big does the jar have to be to hold 1 kg of flour, will it fit dimensionally? How to choose so that it also makes sense and really has an effect? We want to make it easier for you, so I'll give you some advice. We're going to base it on our strategy and our experience in the field, we've organised a lot of kitchens and really almost every one has been different.

  • First, measure all drawers, shelves and cabinets carefully. Width, depth and height. You need to choose your organisers accordingly so that it makes sense and fits dimensionally. Consider what foods you want to store in the bins. It's a good idea to have just the ones you use most often, and to cram as much food as possible into them. It's neater, it's easier to maintain, it gets rid of packaging, and of course it's clean. So let's cut to the chase: the Emsa Optima jars are good for the drawers, they have a transparent lid that you stick a label on, they allow you to see the contents, and it's clear. For 1 kg of flour, a 2.2 litre box is suitable, I recommend a box with a non-sliding lid, the flour is a bit heavier to sift and might get a bit dusty when emptying, but the lid can be put down on both, so it's not that much of a problem. To make sure the box will fit in a drawer or shelf, its min depth needs to be 23 cm. Foods such as icing sugar, rice, pasta, cereals etc. are still suitable for the 2.2 litre jar. The 1,6 l jar is suitable for pulses, crystal sugar, granulated sugar, semolina, salt, everyone has a different taste. It's best to know yourself what foods you are using and go from there. 1.0L jar is ideal for things like cous cous, legumes, chia seeds, quinoa, poppy seeds, corn starch, but that's all just an example, you have to adapt it. And then there's the 0.45 litre jar and you can put different seeds in there, like pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, sesame seeds, whatever you put in your breakfast porridge. You can fit 12 pieces in a drawer measuring about 50×47 cm, but measure carefully and calculate to make sure it fits. The bins can be stacked on top of each other, which is a super efficient use of vertical space.

  • You have to adapt everything to your needs. You need to create food categories so that it makes sense. When it comes to supplies, put similar items together - pasta, legumes, baking, pudding, sweets, snacks, canned goods, fish, etc. I don't recommend large stocks, keep food in jars, and only small amounts of stock. It's pointless to have ten packs of pasta, it will just fill up your space, especially if it's limited. Use appropriate boxes, rotating organizers, and don't forget to measure so it makes sense and everything fits dimensionally. For example, you can create a breakfast drawer for oatmeal, cereal, various porridges and seeds, again use appropriate containers, OXO POPs are great for cereal.

  • So you already have a plan. All you have to do is order your chosen organisers and wait for their delivery. If you are unsure, please don't hesitate to write to us, we will be happy to help and advise you. We can't wait to see how you organise everything beautifully.

  • Organization requires more time and energy. You have to take into account that it will take some time. You have to take all the groceries out, grab each item in your hand and check the expiration date. Put the food you want to keep in your boxes to the side, and the rest can be put directly into the boxes by category, as I wrote about earlier. The boxes need to be washed before you put the food in. The boxes are also dishwasher safe. You need to be gentle with them anyway, don't use the abrasive part of the sponge, it will damage them. So you pour the food into the jars, and very importantly, of course there are labels. Don't forget to print them out, write them down, if you don't have a chance, they can be bought in our shop. We will print exactly according to the requirements.

  • Clear the whole space and put the jars in the drawers as well as the stock boxes, super handy to use a rotating organiser. I recommend the 50 cm diameter one for canned goods, snacks, honey, oils, etc., for a food cupboard of about 50×55 cm ideal. With a simple twist you can take what you need and you don't have to rummage through the shelves.

  • Now in the kitchen you can still have things like baking molds, duplicates of kitchen utensils, also a first aid kit, various small tools that you need to have on hand, but everybody has it differently. Again, use the method of similar items together and put them in simple boxes with lids that can be stacked on top of each other. Every space in the kitchen needs to be used as efficiently as possible. We use boxes from OBI and they are really cool. Don't forget the labels, it's important to conserve space.

Rather, invest in small steps at a time, but let it be as it should be. You deserve it, you are also doing it for the love of yourself and your home. After all, taking care of a family, a household, and raising children in all the chaos is no easy task at all. So happy organizing and don't forget that asking a professional for help is not bad at all. We are ready to help you.
